Kerry specializes in quantitative data analysis and visualization, and most recently was a data visualization developer at Observable, after a couple of years of consulting (including helping with the 50 states microsite for CfA). She originated the role of quantitative UX researcher at Google, where she focused on large-scale usage data analysis and metrics of user experience, and worked on products including Search, Gmail, and YouTube. She has a PhD in human–computer interaction from the University of Cambridge, UK, and grew up in Scotland, from which she retains most of her accent, plus a deep appreciation for the value of a strong social safety net.
