Alexis Turim (she/her)

Alexis is a Lead Service Designer with Code for America’s GetCalFresh team, where she works to ensure that every Californian has a dignified end-to-end experience accessing food benefits. Her typical day includes untangling a wonderful web of constraints, user needs, historical contexts, and competing goals to prototype better digital and offline experiences. She has spent her career immersed in complex problem spaces and is committed to designing for social impact. Her experiences as a designer at Kaiser Permanente’s Innovation Consultancy and the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative have taught Alexis how to navigate highly regulated industries and create enduring change. Originally from the midwest, Alexis earned her BFA in Communication Design at Washington University in St. Louis. Her weekends are full of printmaking, apartment redecorating, and visits to the library.
