To get us warmed up for Code for America’s 7th Annual National Day of Civic Hacking, we will welcome a panel of local leaders focused on criminal justice reform and record expungement. Gain insight into the current efforts to remove barriers for folks with criminal records by transforming the record clearance process, and learn more about how you can get civically involved in justice issues in your community. National Day of Civic Hacking brings together civic leaders, public servants, designers, coders, and engaged citizens to partner with local government and community groups to tackle some of our toughest challenges. For the first time, participants across the country will be joining together in a day of collective action focused on transforming the way government delivers services to those impacted by the criminal justice system, particularly in the area of record clearance. This year’s theme is Civic Action for Justice, and we’re thrilled that National Day of Civic Hacking 2019 coincides with National Expungement Week, an effort led by community-based organizations across the country to help people begin the process to clear their criminal records. Inspired to get hands-on with civic action for justice? We invite you to join us for a day of collective action. Check out events hosted nationwide by the Code for America Brigades on Saturday, September 21 and sign up to participate or partner.
